Improving access to general practice: evening and weekend appointments now available

Patients who are registered with this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on a weekday evening (after 6:30pm) or at the weekend (on Saturday). Talk to the practice receptionist to find out more or book an appointment

By March 2019 everyone in England will benefit from access to general practice appointments in the evenings and weekends at a time that is most convenient to them.  This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients.  Further information is available at www.england.nhs.uk/gpaccess

Routine Appointments

docsteth1Please contact the surgery between 08:00 and 18:30. We endeavour to give routine appointments within 2 days. It is our aim to see patients within half an hour of their allotted appointment time.

Occasionally an emergency has to take priority, in this case we will inform patients of the delay and offer an alternative appointment. Occasionally you may be asked to see a locum doctor.

If you wish to talk to your doctor about more than one medical complaint, please advise the receptionist.  Please also be aware that the doctors do also have other patients to see after your consultation.

The practice does have built in appointment templates which gives the doctors and nurses extended appointment times to deal with such medical conditions as:

  • Diabetes review
  • Asthma review
  • Childhood Immunisations
  • Cervical Smears
  • Travel

If you need an appointment to see either a doctor or nurse for a review of your medical condition or wish to discuss your pending travel arrangements, please advise the receptionist so that she can use our appointment templates to give you the required time with the doctor or nurse.

DUE TO THE EVER INCREASING NON-ATTENDANCE OF BOTH ROUTINE AND URGENT APPOINTMENTS

IT IS THE RESPONSIBLITY OF ALL PATIENTS TO ATTEND THEIR BOOKED APPOINTMENTS.  IF YOUR APPOINTMENT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THAT PATIENT TO INFORM THE PRACTICE THEIR APPOINTMENT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED, SO THAT THE APPOINTMENT CAN BE USED BY ANOTHER PATIENT WHO NEEDS TO BE SEEN.

Same day or Urgent Appointments

You will be asked to supply the receptionist with a few details to establish which clinician you will need to see

Cancellation of appointments

A large number of appointments are wasted everyday due to patients not attending for whatever reason. To avoid this complete waste of doctor/nurses time, we would be grateful if you could either pop into the surgery, telephone the surgery (023 92736006), or text the surgery (077 4272 8286) or use our email facility on this website to cancel your appointment, or write cancel to the mjog text message you will receive as a reminder of your appointment, this would be most appreciated.
